ALCHEMY
With spring in full swing, The Grid Project is excited to present Alchemy, its inaugural exhibit which explores the inherent magic of transforming material into tangible and intangible connections. This show will be paired with an immersive cello performance by a local musician that will guide the audience into a deeper connection to the music and surrounding artwork.
The Grid Project is a Raleigh-based artist collective facilitated by 6 core artists: Patrizia Ferreira, Daniel Kelly, Isabel Lu, Jean Gray Mohs, Pete Sack, and Lamar Whidbee. Each artist brings their own unique perspective and wide range of experiences and emphases. The goals of the Grid Project are to create an artist-led initiative to experiment and connect with local and diverse communities and help nurture and push Raleigh’s art ecosystem through opportunity, space, and scaffolded support.
Or, in the words of the members, we aspire to:
“be a creative force that brings together artists and communities to build a connected and engaged city. Through carefully designed exhibitions and experiences, we seek to spotlight local talent, elevating and celebrating Raleigh's cultural tapestry.”
“to put opportunities in place to increase opportunities for artists to show in Raleigh as a means to showcase the large number of very motivated and talented artists in town and to inspire others to get involved.”
“generate open opportunities to activate space beyond the walls of the traditional gallery; creating immersive experiences that allow the community to connect with the work in myriad ways.”
Located in an unoccupied, accessible building in Downtown Raleigh–donated by our local business partner–we will be presenting 6 art shows, events, and workshops curated by local artists between May 2024 to October 2025.
